The official TWIP Formula 1 2009 Time Trials will start Sunday March 15th 2009.

Mod to be used: F12008 Mod for GTR2 get the 1.6 patch HERE appearantly these files have been removed. Check here for an alternative download location for both the 1.4 full version and the 1.6 patch. It is not ideal but it's the only place I have found.

    http://www.simracingworld.com/files/download/1751-f1-2008-for-gtr-2-v14/

Get the GTR2 seventh gear fix here if you don't have it already.

Also, there is a fix for some missing sounds, check out this post to see how to fix it.

    Concept:

In the upcoming period to every real life F1 race you will have a chance to do an offline fast lap and submit your time here on this forum. We will start two weeks before the first race is held on Sunday 29th of March. Then, as soon as the race ends, the time trial period for the next race begins. The period ends when the race begins. This means sometimes you will have three weeks to put in a laptime and sometimes only two or even just one week.

For every race, the fastest 8 laptimes will get points. 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 points for the respective positions.
All the points will be added and a leaderboard will be available to keep an eye on the standings. At the end of the season we will have three podium positions and crown our winner!

We hope that through this format which requires little time and planning on everyone's part, many people will find a chance to participate in this event and put in their lap times. Of course you can enter and leave the competition at any time you want and there is no obligation to put in laptimes for every race. All the submitted results will be counted and added.

You can post your laptime by posting it in the relevant topic and attaching a screenshot of the game showing your laptime. In some cases you may be asked for a replay file.

No driving aids are allowed, setups are completely free. No fixed amount of fuel and no fixed setups.

I will send round an email to all members inviting them to join in the fun. I hope many will decide to participate and together we'll make this event a fun succes! That didn't work so well. We will just have to spread the word.

If you want to participate, all you have to do is submit a laptime, no specific registration is needed for the event. You can respond below to let us know you're joining though if you want.

This is the official 2009 F1 calendar I found at www.f1fanatic.co.uk.

You may need to register at some forums to be able to download these files.

    i'm aboard!

Any new tracks this year though?   as i dont know how well the modding community is in GTR2 i voted for the Rfactor mod... but then again.. i have the GTR2 mod, so i'm bipartial to the mod as i have both games but shouldn't really be voting as i haven't even tried out the F1 mod for Rfactor..

Anyways.. whichever/whatever the outcome, ill put in a few decent laps, i hope.. but if i cant put one together.. count me out for that race.. lol

Will the TWIP server be running during your personal "online time"  tyssie? (that is if you are running testlaps/ fast laps will you be setting up the server just for that?  i hope so... you can even battle eachother eye to eye for the fastest time.. lol

Edit... and Tyssie. you still need to make a black and white F1 logo for "read posts" as you have the coloured one for "new posts" and it's buring brightly all day..

So, what are we gonna do about tracks? I would think that rFactor would be better because I think it has almost all of the tracks. I believe the only not out for rFactor is Abu Dhabi. I don't what is out for GTR2. I would guess that most of the same as in rFactor.

Yeah, I'll add the download links later. I think almost all tracks are available for both GTR2 and rfactor. Maybe with one exception. We'll figure something out. smile

this'll definately be fun, be it in privatesession trying to scave off that tenth of a second or practicing together and getting and giving tips.

I guess it might be a good time to invite some of the boys over here on twip to our comms for this?  you might ask Marcus? (pm the info rather then posting it here.. hehe)

    cool Steve!

yeah I don't know about online practice sessions. Individuals can host and organize practice sessions themselves. I'm not gonna do anything official.

well there is the legality of the mod issue. That's the biggest reason.

I haven't really gotten round to properly try CTDP 06 yet, so I'm fine with using GTR2. I'll probably give a final verdict when I've tried both again. Too busy with the DRM mod for rFactor (and dealing with crappy servers of race.me) at the moment.

thats what i was hopeing,  I think I may need to reinstall mine as ive been having trouble with it, but I can install mods with ease in GTR2 and tracks.  Since I still havent gotten tracks to work in GTR evo.
