Well it's up to me to make the first topic! Hopefully many more will follow!

I have a pretty small room (I'm a student) but I've managed to make the most out of it. I use the biggest wall to project images on with my Epson EMP-TW20 HDTV projector. The wall is treated with Mighty Brighty Screenpaint which is a paintsystem, specifically designed to deliver the same picture quality as a professional projection screen would. You can find out more about all these products in the hardware/products section.

My custombuilt G25 table. It has anti slip material on the bottom so it will never slide.

Adjustable pedal positions on my G25 table.

My girlfriend demonstrating the way I play.

    The wall I project on.

Here you can see the difference between plain white wall (right) and the screenpaint I use (left)

    A different perspective.

Yes that's my girlfriend again and yes the screen is really that big!   jawdrop

A shot from where I sit when I drive. You can see my real wheel in the foreground. The game you see is TDU.

Here you can see my projector and also in the back you can see my TrackIR. I have it positioned behind me.

And finally two shots of my desk.

I play mostly racing games and sometimes combat flightsims when I use the projector. I project a 3.30metres wide widescreen image and I sit at about the same distance from the screen. So that's pretty close and therefore pretty big  Grin

I play while sitting on the sofa in front of my screen, so I need something to mount my steering wheel on. I have a Logitech G25 Steeringwheel. A problem when mounting a steering wheel on something other than your desk, which is really heavy, is that it often won't stay still when you're pulling the wheel and pushing the pedals. To resolve this I built my own custommade G25 table. You can see it in the pictures. The whole thing rests on a plate which has grip antislip material attached to it. I have a smooth wooden floor so normally it would slide easily. Right now I'll sooner push myself including the sofa backwards than moving the table!

So there I am, sitting on my sofa, with my wheel nicely and firmly in front of me and I'm looking at a 145inch screen! What else would I need? That's right! A Trackir 4 Pro! So I have that too.

Because I use a projector I can't place the trackir 'eye' in front of me like you would when using a monitor. This is why I placed the trackir 'eye' behind my head. It's a piece of cake to reverse some axes in the software to make it work perfectly. And you need to put your trackclip on backwards so the trackir, which is behind you, can see the reflective dots. When I use the speakers I put a baseballcap on and a girls headband over that with the trackclip mounted on it backwards. Just putting your baseballcap on backwards won't work because the cap will face down too much. When I use my headphones, Sennheiser HD447 Stereo headphones, I put the trackclip on my headphones which also works perfectly.

Finally I recently got a Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Xtreme Gamer Edition soundcard. This card delivers superquality sound and fakes a very credible surround sound when you hook your (normal stereo) headphones up to it.

When playing FPS games I use a 19inch TFT, a logitech G5 mouse and a QcK+ SteeL mousepad of 40x45cm.

That was about it! Thanks for taking interest in The Way I Play! Now show me The Way You Play! Grin

That's my girlfriend in those two pics btw, not me   Wink

You have a sweet setup. Im wondering if you have tried pushing stereo3D threw it?
And how much did that projector and screen cost you?

And What are you using for audio? If I had That Video setup, Id have 5.1 satalite speakers mounted high in the corners equal measurements away from your sitting position. With THX dialing it in.

    Hey MuteAssassin,

I think the 3d stereoscopic stuff can only be used with DLP projectors. The one I have is an LCD projector. I don't really know what the difference is but I looked into that stereoscopic projection and it said you need DLP.

As for the projector and screen. For the details of both you can ofcourse check the Hardware section and as far as price goes. The projector cost me 800euros but it has by now dropped in price to 695. That is in a normal store. So on the web you should be able to get it for even less probably. The screen is not an actual screen, but paint, with a magnetic border around it, like you see in the threadpictures. I got the biggest package there is. That is for up to 11m2. The other ones being for up to 5m2 and 6m2. That package cost me 300 euros. It does however include everything you could possibly need for applying the stuff and clear directions on how to do it.

My screen measures are 3.3m wide and 1.7m high. But since I have painted my entire wall I've used more paint than just that.
300euros might sound like a lot for paint but if you consider the price you pay for a projection screen of this size it's peanuts! Plus it never loses it's shape, which projection screens have a tendency to do.

Audio, I just got the Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Xtreme Gamer Edition soundcard. It has support for anything from 2.1 up to 7.1.
I just use my stereo speakers for gaming though. I don't have a surround speaker set. Besides, my pc is hooked up to my 2x100W Sony Amplifier which has 2x125W fairly big JBL speakers. Also I use a Sennheiser stereo headphone at night. This soundcard can simulate surround sound on stereo headphones!

    Hello,

Nice idea for a website. I hope you get a lot of hits, because there are a lot of people playing games with the greatest setups.

Great way to play a game like TDU, with the setup you got! Wouldn't it be great if you had like 2 more screens on the left and right side, so you could look next to you...

    my setup isn't that special:

I use a Full HD LCD 42" Philips screen conected with HDMI to my HP laptop. I payed a lot of money for the laptop, because of the videocard in it. Nice nVidia, so i can play games like TDU with the best settings.
I don't like steering wheels, use to have one (Microsoft) I started playing games with a joypad since my first NES 8-bit... so i just got used to it.

    Greetings from Holland.

    Keep on gaming...

That sentence makes no sense man, there is no non special setup that includes a 42" Full HD screen!  Wink

So, set up your laptop and your tv and take a couple of nice pics of the way you play it and have it set up! I wanna see how everyone plays, not just the ultimate setups!

Thanks for joining and posting man!

lol as usual, when you take a random group of people from an international group of people, you end up with a strikingly high percentage of dutch people!  :D Dutch people are represented everywhere! I'm dutch too btw.

    Hey!

I made a slight modification to my already custom built G25 table. As you can see in the pics the gearbox is now placed in a more natural position, adding to the feel of driving a car. Really only took me an hour but I'm very satisfied with the result. I used the steel cornerpiece which cost me 2 euros. Some screws I had lying around and I sawed a piece of wood out of a plank that I already had too.

Also, since I use a projector to play, I have made my own curtains sort of, to darken the room during the day. Because I have a tilted roof, attic room, it's really expensive to buy shades or something similar. So I got a little creative and made my own! Works perfectly! Now I can play any time of day  Grin

Ok guys, here's the thing. I think I wanna expand my racing cockpit and add a chair.  I looked on marktplaats.nl, our national ebay so to speak. Found a few nice chairs there right away. They are new and the price surprised me. Only 100 euros for a new chair. Both the chairs in the pics are 100euros. Only downside is that they probably don't come with rails to put them on. I might be able to get those separately though. Think those would be expensive? I want to mount the chair on rails which would be on wooden bars which in turn would be connected to my G25 table that I already have.

Haha, my girlfriend isn't quite as excited as I am about this particular plan but oh well... :D  Good thing we don't live together so I can just do whatever I please with my place.

Any comments on the chairs or building plans? I will have to figure out where I'm gonna put the sofa now  :D

Ok, I found another one. This one comes with rails which would be perfect. Also looks very nice  smile costs 150 euros. It is new though. Just like the other two.

    2 different colors!

Oh man, I'm getting all excited about this!   wacko

any adjustments to the back of the seat possible m8?

you'd have a bucket... which would "hopefully" fit.... you gotta have one that you will be sure of will fit...

So.. adjustable seat?  not just the railz m8
