We have used GTR2 and later rFactor for the TWIP Time Trials. However we haven't done those in a while I'm afraid. Maybe we should again!

I'm still waiting for my fasteners to arrive.
    Damn postal service!!!

Should be there any day now.  If I recall correctly the USPS sight listed the Priority Mail service as 10 - 14 days from Boston, and your package was mailed out 8/22.

Not to be an alarmist, but pull the MSDS sheets for the primer and paint you are using.  Because you are recycling MDF,  they should be thoroughly out-gassed, would suck to find out the paint selected contains formaldehyde.

I did a quick review of MSDS sheets for Oil and Acrylic paints available in my area and didn't find any that contained formaldehyde.

    Thanks Jeffrey.
    Good advice as always.
I've checked the MSDS sheets & they are clear of formaledhyde.

I'm using Dulux Oil based Prepcoat Sealer & Binder.

I'm sure the fasteners are on their way.
I will let you know once they arrive.
    Cheers

Fasteners have finally arrived this week. YAY.. Grin Grin

I've started putting it all together to make sure everything fits before painting.

I still need to make a floor for it & also work out how to attach the nose.
The original plans have it sitting on the seat but I'm using my own seat.
I'll probably just make up some brackets as long as they don't intrude too far into the cockpit.

What I have done is bolted both together, 2 Bolts on each Side, works fine

Take a peek at your pic that I modified slightly.

I would take a 30mm HD Connector Bolt, a Nylon spacer, and cap nut to support the nose just below the wheel platform.

You have 50mm HD Connector Bolts left over you could cut-down, and a couple of Nylon spacer since you didn't utilize them for the seat base and back.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
Will sort out the problem soon.

Made a base for my seat today.
It's sitting 2 cm up from the bottom which gives me enough room to bolt the seat on.

Also fitted wheel, pedals & seat today to make sure everything was fitting nicely & was comfortable.
It's pretty cosy in there once you're in.
I'm not a big bloke so I feel for you bigger gents.

Had to modify the heel & pedal plates as well because I'm using 16mm MDF instead of 12mm.
So I had to shave 4mm off each side to make the nose tuck inside the seat part a bit more freely.

This is a great project & I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of giving it a go.
I'm by no means a craftsman when it comes to woodworking but this has been a very straightforward & rewarding project.
I just can't wait to get it finished.

    Cheers

Everything has been primed & is looking good.
Will do the final coat in Mandarin with black on the inside bits.

Weather has turned to crud so I might just have a beer & settle in for the Grand Final.

Finally got some reasonable weather on a day I didn't have to work.

Got most of my painting done.
The side panels still need the other side painted but I will leave them overnight to harden up a bit first.

I am wrapt with the colour.
Can't wait to get it all together.

Downloaded the NFS Shift demo today too.
    A lot of fun.
Also bought Ferrari Challenge (PS3) cheap on ebay.

Looking forward to trying them out in the Racebase.

Great colors! I always love the black and yellow combination. Hmmm, download the NFS shift demo. Is it for PS3? Or is there a demo for pc as well? I'll have to have a look because I am a bit curious about this game.

I'm using the PS3 NFS demo but there is a PC one.

    http://www.needforspeed.com/web/nfs/downloads

It's not bad but a bit arcadey with an emphasis on spectacular crashes me thinks.

Well worth a free download tho..smile

I just played it for a bit. I'm not really sure what to think yet.

I just noted those Spacers ( not sure of their names) they are with the Black parts in yellow, seem to be double the thickness they should be. i would have thought to use them you must have compensated by making the Wheel Mount Shelf smaller ? All that maybe an illusion but thought i would point it out

    You're right YZ.
    They're made of 16mm MDF.

I had to shave 4mm off each side of the heel & pedal plates.
The wheel mount is OK as is.
